Welcome to my Digital Portfolio!

Working with students in both special education settings and general classrooms has shown me that no two learners are the same. I want to be the teacher who sees beyond the lesson and into each child’s individual potential.

About Me

Hello! My name is Sandra Stout, and I was born on May 24, 2006, in Houston, Texas. I am currently a student at Lamar University, where I am majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Early Childhood through 6th grade education.

My experiences working with children have played a major role in shaping who I am as both a person and a future teacher. I have worked at the Shorkey Center, where I supported and cared for children with special needs, and that experience taught me a lot about patience, empathy, and meeting students where they are. I have also substitute taught for PNGISD while in college, which has allowed me to step into a variety of classroom environments and learn from different teaching styles and student needs.

I am an only child, but I share my home with three pets that keep life busy and fun. Working with students continues to confirm my passion for teaching, and it has helped me understand even more deeply that every child learns in their own way and deserves support that fits their individual needs.

My "Why"

My senior year of high school, I spent a lot of time in my mom’s classroom. She is a special education teacher, and watching her interact with her students showed me what patience and kindness in teaching truly look like. Seeing the way she supported each student made a lasting impact on me. As someone who also received special education services, that experience felt personal. In that moment, I realized I wanted to give back in the same way. I want to create a classroom where students feel supported, understood, and capable of success, just like I did growing up.

Personal Goals

My personal goal for teaching is to create a supportive and inclusive classroom where every student feels valued and capable of achieving their learning goals. I want to be adaptable so I can meet each student’s individual needs. I also want to build relationships with my students and encourage them to be confident.

My Motto

To the world, you may just be a teacher but to your students you are a HERO. This reminds me that the impact I make in the classroom goes beyond lessons. I want to be someone that makes students feel heard, seen, and safe.
